The origins of The Segue
Foundation |
On July 25, 2004, Keith Andrews died in a tragic
accident. At the time of the accident he was
self-employed in the construction trade and had no life
insurance. He left behind his wife Lisa and their two
children. Even with a small army of friends eager to
help, the process of finding and accessing available
resources that Lisa and the kids qualified for proved to
be challenging and frustrating. The time consuming
process seemed to leave little time for Lisa to grieve
the loss of her husband and to find the strength to
transition to family life without Keith, which made her
feel extremely overwhelmed. |
|
| Before long, Lisa and close
friend Krista McCormick determined that there must be a
way to alleviate the stress of this process. They did
some research to see if any organization existed to
assist young families trying to cope with their loss and
found there was not. Local funeral homes told them that
there is a great need for an organization such as this.
Sharing the same vision for a more comfortable and
productive way to obtain vital information and services
needed by surviving families in the wake of tragedy,
Lisa Andrews and Krista McCormick co-founded The Segue
Foundation Inc., a non-profit organization |
